4 Signs You Might be Destined to be a Real Estate Agent

Real estate agents are a little bit like super heroes. In order to be a fabulous agent, it bodes well to be a good multi-tasker. One minute you are loading the dishwasher at home, and the next minute you get the call to meet some big-name clients across town for an impromptu showing. It’s a lot like Clark Kent’s transformation into Superman. Underneath that fleece bathrobe is a super agent just waiting to break out. But do you have the quintessential traits necessary to succeed in this fast-paced profession? Even more so, do you have what it takes to keep up with Keller Williams agents?

1. Dominance
Keller Williams agents are dominant. Not in an overbearing, make you shake in your boots kind of way, but rather in a high-powered, get-it-done type of way. Because KW agents are motivated to accomplish what they set out to do. These type of agents are the ones generally calling on owners of expired listings, for-sale-by-owners and cold calling. Rejection does not phase them. They know that in order to succeed in this business, you must be willing to take the first, and the most steps.

2. Influential
There’s no doubt that Keller Williams agents are “people persons”. They like to talk and enjoy bonding with others. If you put them in a room full of 100 strangers, chances are they won’t be strangers for very long. Keller Williams is an extremely family-oriented company, that prides itself on nurturing relationships both inside and outside the company walls. Real estate is one of the most social professions as the majority of your time is spent building relationships with your clients and associates. Being a Keller Williams agent means constantly influencing those around you and fostering those relationships.

3. Resilient
A 2006 study conducted at the Real Estate Simulator demonstrated that emotional resilience - the ability to bounce back from failures and adversity - is a key factor in top production for successful real estate agents. The one factor that top producers in the real estate business have in common is their ability to pick themselves up and keep going when they experience a setback. There will be setbacks no matter which career path you choose, but it is a certain class of individuals that have the ability to bounce back quickly and keep pushing on.

4. Extreme Focus
Keller Williams agents work by the fundamental principles demonstrated in Gary Keller’s book, “The One Thing”. In his writings, Keller describes the importance of focusing your time and energy on the most important tasks at hand. He states, “Success is actually a short race—a sprint fueled by discipline just long enough for habit to kick in and take over.” Exceptional agents live by these rules. By harvesting laser focus in their daily lives, each task is met with uninterrupted effort and skill. As Keller says,  “Extraordinary results happen only when you give the best you have to become the best you can be at your most important work.”
Your behavioral profile and your values will strongly influence how easy or difficult it is for you to succeed. So do you feel that you embody these traits? Whether you’re looking for your first job or are venturing out on a new career path, if you think you have what it takes to work among the elite agents in the industry, visit the form below and get started today!

Protecting You and Your Business from the Heartbleed Bug

Keller Williams is committed to protecting the digital privacy and security of our associates and the clients we serve.
As soon as the KW Technology Team learned about the potentially disruptive Heartbleedbug, we tested our systems for vulnerabilities. We are pleased to report that our systems have not been compromised. We also reached out to our technology partners to determine if they had been affected. Again, we are pleased to share that the security of our associates and clients does not appear to have been breached.
Below are responses from the major technology providers who help power the KW productivity tools you rely on every day, from the KW mobile app to our lead-to-close transaction system, eEdge.
While your primary work tools appear safe, we encourage you to take safeguards with other websites, services or apps that you use. For a partial list of affected products, click here.

Password Safety

Here are a few tips to ensure that your password keeps your protected:
  • Always create a strong password. A strong password is one that is at least eight characters long, is significantly different from your previous passwords, and contains a combination of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters (such as !, @, # or $)
  • Avoid reusing the same password for multiple accounts
  • Update your password on a regular basis. You should change your passwords at least every 90 days
  • Do not share your password with anyone. If you must write it down to remember it, keep it in a safe and secure location where others cannot access it

KW Wellness Day a Healthy Success

KWRI_Field_Day_Orange_Team
You could have heard a pin drop at the Keller Williams corporate headquarters on Friday afternoon. Except for some key support service providers, the entire staff closed shop early to take part in the first-ever KW Wellness Day.
Clad in red t-shirts emblazoned with the new Keller Williams logo, KWRI family members took part in physical challenges ranging from potato sack races to pull-ups.

And thanks to the passion and initiative of KW Wellness Ambassadors, market centers coordinated their own health and we
llness events in locations ranging from Oklahoma City to Fort Mill, S.C., to Florida’s Treasure Coast.
“When we look at legendary companies, they all have several things in common,” President Mary Tennant said. “First, they give back.  Second, they have the healthiest, most engaged people. At Keller Williams, we are passionate about taking care of the whole agent.”
The first KW Wellness Day was part of the KW Wellness Initiative.
“This year, we launched a new KW Wellness program because we know that the quality of your life is even more important than the quantity of your production,” Tennant said. “Real estate agents historically work lo
ng hours, eat on the run and get little sleep. Through our wellness initiative, we’re helping you lead healthy, happy, fulfilling lives.”
At Mega Camp 2013, Keller Williams held its first Red Rally. This year’s Mega Camp will include a Wellness Walk.

“Something that is incredibly important to us is ensuring that our KW associates and their families have the very best health care coverage,” Tennant said. “And we were pleased to announce last fall a new health benefits marketplace that helps associates receive the coverage they need. To our knowledge, Keller Williams was the first real estate franchise to offer a full, competitive health exchange for associates that complies with the Affordable Care Act. Keller Williams is committed to your health and wellbeing. We are constantly seeking ways to take care of your needs and are always willing to go the extra mile.”

Super Agent: How Real Estate Agents Go from Good to Great

Real estate agents are rock stars. They are tenacious, organized, consistent and accountable. The secret ingredient to real estate success is really no secret ingredient at all. It all comes down to effective habit building and daily planning. By nature, most agents embody all of these traits and more. But what sets apart a super agent from the rest of the flock?
Perspiration
Great success requires effort—and lots of it. And much of that effort revolves around learning: about your people, your operations, your industry, and yourself. Be relentless in your pursuit of knowledge about everything in your business
Vision
Develop a clear vision for what your goals are, and don't lose faith. Know in your heart that you and your team can accomplish anything you set out to accomplish if you work together and believe in one another. You will undoubtedly encounter setbacks, but don’t be deterred. Learn from failure and remain confident.
Communication
Great agents communicate sincerely, often, and in many different ways to everyone in their organizations. They inform, provide feedback, and motivate--intelligently and honestly. Connect with all your people and cultivate multiple channels for two-way. When you hear your own words and messages repeated back to you from your teammates, or when your employees talk among themselves using your words to describe your vision and goals, then you know you’re making an impact.
Collaboration
Form teams that are constituted for maximum effectiveness. Recognize that in order to do their very best work most teams need consistent support and input from leaders and fellow agents. When you create this kind of environment, you'll see an immediate impact on productivity and effectiveness--as well as morale. This goes for your client base as well. Clients do not want to feel like they are having a service pushed upon them. Develop a collaborative relationship with your clients and you will be sure to maximize results.
Decisiveness
Super agents are decisive when called upon to make tough calls quickly and confidently. Take a moment to assess a difficult situation and then calmly and rationally consider your options. As soon as you have the information you need to make an informed decision, make it. Don't let fear of being wrong prevent you from making what you know is the right call.
Integrity
There are few traits that are valued more than integrity. As a super agent, your integrity is what determines your reputation among clients and colleagues . Always be candid, forthright, honest, and fair. Treat your people as you want to be treated.
Inspiration
When times are tough, be the person that people look to for inspiration. Don't just talk, act. Reassure your clients and help them overcome their own doubts and anxieties.

There is no magic pill for overnight success as a real estate agent. But by implementing these key traits into your everyday transactions, your transformation into “Super Agent” is inevitable.
